Silestone Home Additions & ADU: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
A Silestone-quartz-clad home addition or ADU in Los Angeles typically runs $53,100 to $153,400 installed, depending on square footage, foundation work, and how much of the counter and surface package you’re specifying. Rowan Construction Group stocks and installs Silestone-compatible material across every phase of an addition or ADU build, from countertop slabs to backsplash and wet-bar surfaces. What usually brings an owner to this page isn’t a failed slab, it’s a project that stalled: a contractor who quoted countertops without accounting for the load path behind them, an ADU spec that priced Silestone but delivered a lookalike, or a foundation discovered mid-project that no one had written into the original number. We know that version of the problem. We fix it with a written price before anyone picks up a tool.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To
Silestone is a quartz surface manufactured by Cosentino, and in Los Angeles ADUs and additions, the line that shows up most often is the Sunlit Days and Loft series, followed by classic Et Marquina and Calacatta Gold for kitchens and bath vanities. One consistency issue owners run into: Silestone slab thickness is either 1.2 cm, 2 cm, or 3 cm, and the 1.2 cm option is common in prefab vanities but not rated for unsupported overhangs. If your last contractor quoted a 12-inch breakfast bar on 1.2 cm stock, the price was low but the spec was wrong. We specify 2 cm or 3 cm for any overhang beyond 6 inches, and we write that thickness into the scope so there’s no substitution at the slab yard. Rowan Construction Group is an independent contractor, not a Silestone dealer or affiliate; we buy from regional distributors and pass the slab cost through at invoice, which keeps the material number honest instead of marked up.
Signs Your Silestone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

- Visible seam separation at the counter joint. Quartz seams are glued and color-matched. In Los Angeles, temperature swings between a hot West Hills afternoon and a cool March night cause expansion cycles that eventually crack cheap polyester adhesive. The seam opens, water gets in, and the substrate under the slab starts swelling.
- Chipping along the edge profile. Silestone is hard, but it chips when the edge overhang is unsupported or the cabinet box settled after the slab was set. We see this a lot in garage conversions where the original floor slab was never leveled before the ADU went in.
- Dull patches that don’t polish back. Quartz resists staining, but abrasive cleaners and dragging ceramic across the surface wear down the factory finish. The dull patch means the slab has lost its resin polish layer and needs a professional refinish, not a household cleaner.
- Cracks radiating from the sink cutout. The front and back rails next to an undermount sink are stress points. If the fabricator cut the opening without radiused inside corners, the slab will crack from the corner within a few years. It starts as a hairline and widens every time someone leans on the basin.
- Movement in the cabinet or floor under the slab. A Silestone top is only as stable as what it sits on. If you can feel the island shift when a heavy pot lands on it, the flex is moving the slab and the fix is structural, not cosmetic.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Installed pricing for Silestone in Los Angeles additions and ADUs runs from $53,100 on a modest single-room bump-out with a specified slab package to $153,400 on a full detached ADU with custom Silestone throughout. The range is driven by three things: linear footage of countertop, slab series (standard colors run $55 to $75 per square foot installed; Calacatta and Ethereal series run higher), and whether the existing substrate or cabinetry needs correction first. Our price always includes the slab, fabrication, templating, sink cutout, edge profile, and installation, and it’s delivered as a fixed written quote before any work starts. No change proceeds without a signed change order, which is why our projects land within a few percent of the agreed number. The workmanship carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it wasn’t done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?

You can check slab thickness, seam gaps, and cabinet movement yourself before anyone arrives. You should not attempt to remove or reset a Silestone slab. The material is heavy, the stone is rigid, and a 3 cm slab dropped on a toe or a tile floor does real damage. The actual danger is less the quartz and more the load path: when a slab fails, it’s often because something underneath it moved, and that diagnosis takes a level, a moisture meter, and a clear look at joist spacing. If your Silestone surface is cracked, separated, or sitting on a compromised cabinet run, call (470) 298-9650. We’ll walk the site, document what we find, and hand you a written number.
FAQs
Properly specified and installed Silestone lasts 25 years or longer, though edge chips and seam degradation show up earlier when the substrate isn’t level or the overhang isn’t supported. Quartz doesn’t fade like laminate or stain like marble; what ages it in Los Angeles is heat and substrate movement, not the surface itself.
Hairline cracks away from stress points can sometimes be glued and color-filled by a fabricator. Cracks radiating from a sink cutout or extending across a seam cannot; the repair fails because the underlying flex hasn’t changed. We’ll tell you which one you have without charging you for the advice. Call (470) 298-9650 for an exact assessment.
A standard countertop swap, from template to installed slab, runs three to five business days. If the cabinets under the slab are moving, add time for structural correction, which we’ll include in the original written scope if we catch it on the first visit.
We source slabs through regional Cosentino distributors and pass the material cost through at invoice. You pick the series and color; we handle templating, fabrication, and install. KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria quartz, and Kohler fixtures are also available through the same written-quote process.
