Trusted Driveway & Pavers for Los Angeles Homeowners

A paver driveway installation in Los Angeles typically runs $8,260-$21,240, while a concrete driveway runs $5,310-$14,160. The price depends on square footage, paver brand, and what we find when we excavate. The real cost driver is rarely the surface material, it’s what sits underneath, and that’s where most Los Angeles driveways fail early.

Rowan Construction Group has been writing down the number before picking up a tool since 2007. Grant Rowan built the company on a single rule, now Clause 1 of the Haven Standard: no work begins until the price is in writing, the scope is in writing, and the customer has signed both. If you’re pricing a driveway replacement in Los Angeles, call (470) 298-9650 and get a flat written quote, not a ballpark over the phone.

We work with Belgard and Techo-Bloc pavers because their manufacturing tolerances let us write an honest number. A paver that’s off by an eighth of an inch becomes a pattern that drifts. A paver that’s consistent lets us lay a bed that drains. Los Angeles soil expands and contracts with rain and drought cycles. If the base is wrong, the surface fails within three years. We know this because we’ve excavated failed driveways across the city and photographed what we found before rebuilding it.

Our crews are background-checked and uniformed. A live person answers our phone 24/7. Every visit includes a documented photo record: what we found, what we did, what it looked like when we left. You keep the evidence.

What Our Driveway & Pavers Service Includes

Paver Driveways

A paver driveway is individual concrete or clay units set on a compacted base, not a monolithic slab. The joints between pavers let the surface flex slightly, which matters in Los Angeles where expansive clay soil shifts with moisture. We install paver driveways with a compacted aggregate base at a depth matched to your soil condition and traffic load, not a one-size-fits-all spec. Every paver driveway we quote includes edge restraint, joint sand, and a written warranty on the installation.

Paver Driveways

Concrete Driveways & Concrete Work

Concrete is a continuous slab, usually four inches thick for residential driveways, poured over a prepared subgrade. It costs less upfront than pavers, but cracks are structural, not cosmetic, and repairs are visible. We handle new pours, full tear-outs, and concrete work adjacent to the driveway like curbs, steps, and drainage swales. The number we write covers the rebar or wire mesh, the control joints, and the cure time, because cheap concrete fails when someone skips any of those.

Concrete Driveways & Concrete Work

Asphalt Driveways & Resurfacing

Asphalt is an aggregate and bitumen mix, laid hot and compacted. It’s less common in Los Angeles residential driveways than in colder climates, but it’s still the right material for some long, straight, flat approaches. We do full asphalt paving and resurfacing over a structurally sound existing base. If the base has failed, resurfacing is a waste of your money, and we’ll tell you that in writing before quoting anything.

Asphalt Driveways & Resurfacing

Driveway Repair & Replacement

Repair means patching, lifting, or re-leveling. Replacement means removing everything down to the subgrade and starting over. In Los Angeles, we regularly see driveways where the original contractor poured over uncompacted fill, and the slab cracked along the fill line within two years. We determine which one you need by cutting a test core or excavating a section, not by guessing from the surface. The decision is documented with photos and explained in the written scope before a price is attached.

Driveway Repair & Replacement

Patios, Walkways & Pool Decks

The same base failures that wreck driveways wreck patios and pool decks, but the failure shows up differently: sunken pavers, trip edges, water pooling against the foundation. We build paver patios, walkways, and pool decks with the same compaction standards as our driveways, and we match the surface to the existing hardscape. Pool decks get additional attention to slip resistance and drainage, because water standing under a paver bed is water that moves things around.

Patios, Walkways & Pool Decks

Brick Paver Driveway

Brick pavers are clay-fired units, smaller and thinner than concrete pavers, with a different look and a higher per-square-foot material cost. They’re the right choice for historic or traditional Los Angeles homes where clay matters. We quote brick paver driveways separately from concrete pavers because the base spec, the joint tolerance, and the cutting labor are all different. If you bring us a competitor’s brick paver quote, we’ll review it line by line at no charge under our Free Second Opinion policy.

Brands We Service for Driveway & Pavers

Brands We Service for Driveway & Pavers

We install and service Belgard pavers across a range of product lines, from entry-level concrete pavers to permeable systems that meet Los Angeles stormwater requirements. Belgard’s manufacturing consistency means fewer waste pieces, which means a tighter written price. Our crews have laid Belgard products on driveways, pool decks, and walkways throughout the city, from Driveway & Pavers in Huntington Park to surrounding areas, and we keep a photo record of every completed bed for warranty documentation.

We also work extensively with Techo-Bloc, whose paver lines run toward the architectural end. Techo-Bloc’s larger-format pavers need a flatter base than smaller units, and we account for that in the excavation spec before quoting. Whether you have a Belgard driveway, a Techo-Bloc patio, or any other paver brand, we can assess the existing installation and write you a repair or replacement scope.

Signs You Need Driveway & Pavers Work Right Now

  • Water pools against the garage door or foundation after rain. A driveway that slopes toward the house is sending water where it does the most damage. In Los Angeles, the problem is often a base that settled after the original pour or paver install. We fix the grade, not just the surface.
  • Cracks wider than a quarter inch run through the slab. Hairline cracks are cosmetic. A quarter-inch crack that runs edge to edge means the slab has already moved, and it will keep moving. The fix is section replacement or full replacement, depending on what the subgrade shows.
  • Pavers are sinking, tilting, or separating from the edge restraint. When the edge restraint fails, the whole paver field starts to walk. You’ll see gaps opening at the border first. This is a base compaction issue, and no amount of joint sand will hold it together.
  • You can see the aggregate, or the surface is spalling and flaking. Spalling is the top layer of concrete breaking away, usually from a bad mix, over-troweling, or freeze-thaw cycles. In Los Angeles it’s more often sun and salt exposure. The surface is compromised and water is getting in.
  • The driveway has multiple patch materials or color mismatches. A driveway that’s been patched three times is a driveway that needs replacement. Every patch is a different color, a different cure, and a different failure point. The money spent patching would have gone further toward a proper rebuild.

Our Driveway & Pavers Process - Step by Step

Our Driveway & Pavers Process - Step by Step
  1. 1
Written assessment and test dig. We walk the site, take measurements, and when the condition warrants it, excavate a small section to inspect the base. You see what we see: the depth of the aggregate, the condition of the subgrade, the thickness of the existing slab. Photos are taken and included in your record.
  2. 2
Flat written price and scope. You get a line-item written price before any work starts. The scope lists the excavation depth, the base material and compaction spec, the paver or concrete specification, and the warranty terms. No change proceeds without a signed change order.
  3. 3
Excavation and base prep. We remove the existing surface and excavate to the depth the job requires, then compact in lifts. Compaction in lifts, not all at once, is the difference between a base that holds and one that settles. We document the compaction with photos before anything sits on top of it.
  4. 4
Installation and edge restraint. Pavers are laid on a screeded sand bed and edge restraint is installed around the full perimeter. Concrete is poured, screeded, and tooled with control joints on a grid. The pattern runs true to the layout we agreed on in writing.
  5. 5
Final inspection and photo record. We walk the finished surface with you, check the drainage, and hand over the photo record of the entire job: before, during, after. The warranty is in writing, not verbal. You keep the evidence.

How Much Does Driveway & Pavers Work Cost in Los Angeles?

A paver driveway installation in Los Angeles runs $8,260-$21,240 for a typical two-car driveway. A concrete driveway runs $5,310-$14,160, and an asphalt driveway runs $4,130-$10,620. A full driveway replacement lands between $5,900 and $16,520 depending on the material and what we find underneath. Driveway sealing, when it’s appropriate, runs $295-$825.

What moves the price: the size of the driveway, the paver or concrete product you select, the depth of excavation required, and whether we’re hauling away old material or building over a structurally sound base. Los Angeles hillside properties often add retaining wall and drainage scope that a flat-lot driveway doesn’t need. If someone quotes you a paver driveway at $3,000, they’re either not excavating, not compacting, or not planning to be around when it fails.

Every free estimate from Rowan Construction Group includes the line-item price, the written scope, and the written warranty. You’ll know the paver brand, the base depth, the compaction spec, and the total before you sign anything. That’s Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, and it’s been the rule on every one of our 4,000-plus projects since 2007.
