Toto Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

A full Toto bathroom remodel in Los Angeles typically runs between $10,620 and $33,040, depending on whether you’re refreshing a guest bath or gutting a primary suite down to the studs. If you’ve got a Toto toilet, washlet, or tub that’s leaking, staining, or just past its useful life, we stock Toto-compatible valves, flappers, fill assemblies, and soft-close seat hardware on our trucks, so most repairs and swaps happen in a single visit. The usual discovery point is a homeowner walking into a bathroom and finding water on the floor around the toilet base, hearing the tank refill cycle run every twenty minutes, or seeing the washlet seat blink an error code for the third time this month.

Which Toto Models This Applies To

This page covers the Toto lines we see most often in Los Angeles homes built or renovated between 2015 and 2025: the Drake, Drake II, Ultramax II, Carlyle II, and Aquia series toilets, plus the SW-series Washlet seats (SW3036, SW3034, SW2034, and the C2/C5 ranges), and the 1700- and 1740-series tubs. The single most common identification mistake is reading the tank lid stamp instead of the bowl casting mark. The tank lid is interchangeable across several series; the bowl casting number inside the bowl, above the water line, is what actually tells you which fill valve and flush tower you need. Toto’s G-Max and Tornado Flush systems use different flush valve assemblies, and they are not cross-compatible, even though the tanks look identical from the outside. For OEM versus aftermarket: on washlet seats, we recommend genuine Toto control boards and heater elements because the aftermarket versions for the SW3036 and SW3034 have a real failure rate issue with the warm air dryer circuit in Los Angeles homes where the bathroom sits on an exterior wall and pulls cold air all winter.

Signs Your Toto Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

Signs Your Toto Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
  • Water staining at the toilet base or a persistent “damp” smell: This is almost always the wax ring or the closet flange, and in Los Angeles slab-on-grade homes we see the flange fail before the ring because the concrete settles. If the floor around the toilet is a little springy, the real issue is subfloor rot and the toilet is just where you noticed it.
  • The tank refills on its own every 15 to 20 minutes: The flapper or the flush tower seal on your Toto is letting water through. On G-Max models, the red flush valve gasket is the usual culprit; on Tornado Flush models, it’s the tower assembly riding out of alignment.
  • Washlet seat error codes or no heat: An SW-series seat that won’t heat the water or throws a flashing light on the control panel has a failing heater or control board. We carry the boards for the SW2034 and SW3034 on the truck, because those two fail more often than any other part in the Toto catalog in this city’s hard water.
  • Visible mineral buildup or permanent staining on the bowl: Los Angeles water runs hard, and Toto’s CEFIONTECT glaze holds up better than most, but once the glaze is etched by years of mineral deposit, the staining is permanent. The fix is bowl replacement or a full remodel, not a cleaning product.
  • The tub or shower surround is cracked, yellowed, or pulling away from the wall: A Toto acrylic tub that’s separated from the tile line is letting water into the wall cavity. By the time the crack is visible from the room, the wall behind it has been wet for months.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Our Toto bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles runs from $10,620 on the low side, for a 5×8 guest bath with a new Toto Drake toilet, a tub surround replacement, and basic finishes, to $33,040 for a gut-renovation primary bath with a Toto washlet, a Toto tub or a custom shower, new tile, new subfloor, and significant plumbing relocation. The biggest cost drivers are whether we’re replacing like-for-like in the same footprint or moving walls and fixtures, and whether the existing subfloor and waterproofing are sound or need tear-out. Every quote is a flat, written price with a written scope and a written warranty, delivered before any work starts. If you bring a competitor’s written estimate, we’ll review it line by line at no charge, because the number on the page is the only honest starting point for a comparison. No change proceeds on your job until you sign a change order, which is Clause 1 of The Haven Standard and the reason our projects finish within a few percent of the agreed price.

DIY or Call Us?

There are two things an owner can safely do before calling us, and one thing they absolutely should not. You can check the bowl casting number inside your Toto so we know exactly which model you have, and you can kill the water at the angle stop behind the toilet to stop a running tank. What you should not attempt is pulling a Toto toilet or tub loose without a plan for the water damage underneath. Los Angeles slab homes hide the worst of it, and once a flange breaks off in the concrete, the job went from a $945 swap to a multi-hour repair. We’re happy to walk you through what you’re seeing over the phone, and we’ll tell you straight if it’s a job you can reasonably handle. Most of the time, it isn’t. Call (470) 298-9650 and we’ll get you a written number.
