IKO Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

IKO kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, and the work usually takes two to six weeks depending on whether cabinets, countertops, or the full layout are involved. We stock and install IKO-compatible kitchen components and can match most failed or worn parts to the correct series without forcing you into a full replacement. Where owners usually find us is mid-project: a drawer front has warped, a hinge has stripped out of the cabinet box, or the countertop seam has separated after three or four Los Angeles summers of low humidity and temperature swings.

Rowan Construction Group is an independent contractor. We are not affiliated with IKO, but we work with their product lines regularly and keep the documentation to prove what fits what. If you have a specific IKO part number, bring it to the first call. If you don’t, we can identify it from measurements and photos during the estimate.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s kitchen line covers several series, and the compatibility question is the first thing we settle. The most common IKO kitchen components in Los Angeles homes fall into three groups: the IKO Cambridge line (entry-level laminate and thermofoil cabinets paired with standard-height wall units), the IKO Royal line (mid-range wood-veneer and painted finishes), and the IKO Nordic line (taller uppers, soft-close hardware, and deeper base cabinets). The gotcha we see most often is hardware: IKO switched hinge suppliers around 2014, so a Royal cabinet from 2012 takes a different soft-close hinge than a Royal from 2018 even though the door looks identical.

To identify your part, look for the IKO stamp on the inside of the drawer box or the back of the door. If the stamp is gone, measure the hinge cup diameter (35mm is IKO’s standard for Royal and Nordic; some Cambridge models use a 26mm cup) and note whether the drawer slides are side-mount or under-mount. For OEM versus aftermarket: IKO’s OEM hinges and slides are solid but priced at a premium. We stock quality aftermarket equivalents from Blum and Salice that match the mounting footprint at roughly half the cost, and we’ll show you both options on the written quote. KraftMaid and Cambria hardware occasionally cross-fits with IKO boxes, but Silestone’s integrated sink cutouts do not. That’s a measure-three-times situation.

Signs Your IKO Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

Signs Your IKO Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
  • Drawer front sagging or detached. The glue joints on IKO’s Cambridge thermofoil drawers fail when the kitchen gets hot and dry, which is most kitchens in Los Angeles between June and October. The drawer box is fine; the front just separates.
  • Soft-close no longer catching. IKO’s hydraulic dampers wear out after roughly 8 to 10 years of daily use. The hinge still opens and closes, but the door slams shut, and eventually the mounting screws strip from the repeated impact.
  • Laminate peeling at the countertop edge. IKO laminate counters with a rolled front edge are vulnerable to moisture at the seam where the backsplash meets the deck. Once water gets under the laminate, the substrate swells and the edge separates.
  • Cabinet box pulling away from the wall. This is not a cabinet failure. It’s a fastener failure, usually because the original installer used short drywall screws instead of 3-inch cabinet screws into studs. We see it regularly in older Los Angeles kitchens and fix it with proper anchors and a shim check.
  • Adjustable shelf clips breaking. IKO’s plastic shelf clips get brittle after a few years of heat cycling from the oven and direct sun through a window. The shelf drops, the clips snap, and the replacement clips are IKO-specific in spacing.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For IKO kitchen work in Los Angeles, the numbers we put in writing break down like this:

Scope Installed Price Range (Los Angeles)
Full kitchen remodel (IKO cabinets, counters, backsplash) $16,520-$53,100
Small kitchen remodel (galley or condo kitchen) $10,620-$23,600
Cabinet installation (IKO boxes, doors, hardware) $4,720-$15,340
Countertop installation (laminate, stone, or solid surface) $2,360-$7,670
Backsplash installation $945-$2,950
Kitchen island installation $3,540-$11,800

What drives the range: whether we’re replacing a single failed component or rebuilding the cabinet run, whether the countertop substrate is still sound, and whether the existing layout stays put or moves. Every quote includes the parts, the labor, the written scope, and a written warranty. We don’t do verbal estimates, and we don’t start until the price is signed. That’s Clause 1 of our Haven Standard.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things before calling: measure the hinge cup, read the IKO stamp inside the drawer, and send us photos of the failed part. That saves a trip. But when it comes to the repair itself, we recommend a trained professional for anything that involves cabinet boxes, countertop substrate, or wall anchoring. A stripped hinge plate in an IKO cabinet box is not like a stripped screw in drywall. If the box material is compromised, the repair has to be reinforced, not just filled. In Los Angeles, where many kitchens sit on pier-and-beam or post-tension slab foundations, cabinet alignment shifts over time, and a cosmetic patch will fail again within a year. If you’re not sure which situation you have, call (470) 298-9650 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a hand-tighten job or a service call.
