Boral Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Boral fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete post-and-panel run, and the single most common failure we see is a rotted post that quietly took the panel with it. You usually find out after a wind event or when the gate stops latching. If your Boral fence is leaning, separating at the rails, or the gate drags against the strike plate, you are looking at a structural issue, not a cosmetic one. We stock Boral-compatible rails, posts, post caps, and gate hardware on the truck, which means most repairs get done in a single visit, not two or three.

Los Angeles soil and irrigation patterns are hard on fence posts. The Boral system is a good product, but it is not immune to how we water our yards here. When a post rots at the soil line, the panel above it starts working against the rails, and what began as a single-post repair becomes a full section replacement if it is ignored through one rainy season.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

Boral builds their fence systems around a vinyl-and-composite hybrid, and the compatibility question is real. The current product line centers on Boral’s TruComposite and Select series, with two distinct rail profiles: a routed rail that accepts Boral’s proprietary bracket hardware, and a tongue-and-groove panel style that locks into the post without exposed fasteners. If you bought your fence between 2015 and 2023 in the Los Angeles area, you most likely have the routed-rail profile. The quick way to tell: look at the back side of a panel. Exposed screws into a metal bracket means routed rail. No visible fasteners anywhere means tongue-and-groove.

Boral changed their post wall thickness on the TruComposite line in 2021. Older posts measure 4 inches by 4 inches nominal with a thinner sidewall; newer posts are slightly thicker and take a different post cap. This is the compatibility gotcha that costs people time: a replacement post ordered for the wrong era will not seat the rail bracket correctly, and the panel will sit proud of the post face by about an eighth of an inch. You will see it immediately.

OEM Boral parts are what we recommend for anything structural: posts, rails, and gate frames. For post caps and small trim pieces, quality aftermarket equivalents from brands we have vetted perform identically and cost 20 to 30 percent less. We carry both in the truck and will tell you which we are quoting and why.

Signs Your Boral Fence Installation Is Failing

Signs Your Boral Fence Installation Is Failing
  • Post lean at the soil line. This is almost always rot from irrigation overspray or a sprinkler head that has been too close to the post for years. The Boral post is not failing from age; the water saturation is doing the damage. Fix the water source or the new post meets the same fate.
  • Rail separation at the bracket. Boral rails slot into a metal bracket screwed to the post. When wind loads cycle the panel over time, the screw holes in the post wall can widen. The rail then pulls free in a gust. This is repairable without replacing the whole panel if caught early.
  • Gate sag and strike plate misalignment. The Boral gate frame is engineered for a specific weight. When someone hangs a heavier gate or the hinges loosen, the frame torques and the latch misses. Continuing to use it just wallows out the hinge mounts.
  • Panel discoloration that will not clean off. Boral panels hold up well to Los Angeles sun, but hard water from sprinklers can leave mineral deposits that mottle the surface. It is cosmetic, but it tells you where your water is landing, and that same water is working on the posts below.
  • Loose post caps or trim pieces after wind. This is usually simple expansion and contraction from our temperature swings. Replacing the caps with the correctly sized Boral cap, sealed with the right adhesive, stops it. Ignoring it lets water into the post cavity.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Boral fence installation in Los Angeles runs $4,130 to $10,620 depending on linear footage, gate count, and what we find underground at the existing post locations. The spread is driven by three things: how many posts we are pulling and resetting, whether the concrete footing is reusable, and how much demo we are hauling away. We write the price before we touch the fence, and that price includes parts, labor, disposal, and a written scope.

A single-post replacement with new concrete footing and a re-set panel typically runs $470 to $825. A gate rebuild, including new Boral-compatible frame rails and hardware, runs $945 to $2,950. These are the same ranges we use across our Los Angeles fence work, and the written quote is a fixed number, not an estimate with a caveat. Under Clause 1 of The Haven Standard, the price is written before anyone starts. If the plan changes, a signed change order comes first, not after the fact.

Every Boral fence project includes a documented photo record of what was found before work, what was done during it, and what it looked like when the crew left. That record is yours, included, not an upgrade.

A post cap or a loose gate latch is something a handy homeowner can swap in an afternoon with basic tools. The danger comes when people start pulling posts or trying to re-tension a sagging gate frame themselves. A Boral post set in concrete weighs 80 to 120 pounds once the footing is attached, and if it drops while you are working a pry bar under it, fingers and toes lose that argument every time. This is not high-tension electrical or gas work, but it is still body-weight material under leverage. If the repair involves pulling a post, resetting a footing, or rebuilding a gate frame, call us at (470) 298-9650 and let us do it. The free estimate is exactly that, and the written quote tells you the number before you decide anything.

FAQs

How long does Boral fencing last in Los Angeles?

A Boral fence in Los Angeles will last 20 to 25 years on the panels and rails, and 12 to 20 on the posts, mostly because of how we irrigate our landscaping. The materials are UV-stable and the composite resists rot better than wood, but the post-to-soil contact point is the weak boundary. Sprinkler overspray and dense clay soil shorten post life, regardless of what the post is made of. Call (470) 298-9650 if you want us to look at your post bases before a lean turns into a full section replacement.

Can a leaning Boral fence post be repaired instead of replaced?

If the post itself is still sound and the movement is at the footing, we can sometimes re-set the post in new concrete and save it. If the post wall is cracked, soft, or rotted at the soil line, it gets replaced. We will tell you which one you have before we quote anything, and we will show you the photo. Call (470) 298-9650 and we will put eyes on it.

How long does a Boral fence repair take?

A single-post replacement or a gate rebuild is a half-day job in most cases, and we bring the parts on the truck so there is no second trip. A full fence run of 80 to 120 linear feet in Los Angeles typically takes two to three working days, including demo, footing work, and final walk-through. The written quote will include the timeline before work starts, so you are not guessing when the gate will open and close again.

Do you stock Boral fence parts, or do you have to order them?

We stock Boral-compatible posts, rails, post caps, brackets, and gate hardware on the truck for the most common Los Angeles configurations from 2015 onward. If you have an older or unusual Boral profile, we source the correct OEM part and build the wait time into the written quote so you know before work starts. We are not affiliated with Boral, which is exactly why we can be plain about what is in stock and what is not. Call (470) 298-9650 for a free estimate and we will confirm the parts match before we schedule any work.
