ViewLux Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

ViewLux driveway and paver work in Los Angeles typically runs $8,260-$21,240 installed for a full paver driveway, and we stock ViewLux-compatible replacement pavers, edge restraints, and base materials on our trucks for most standard runs. If you’re noticing shifting pavers, widening joints, or pooling water after rain, the failure is usually in the base layer or edging, not the paver itself. We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a ViewLux affiliate, which means we match the part to your existing install and give you a written price before anyone picks up a shovel.

Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux manufactures interlocking concrete pavers in three primary series: the permeable AquaFlow line, the standard modular system (60mm and 80mm thicknesses), and the larger-format slab series used for driveway aprons and walkways. The fast way to identify yours is to pull one paver and check the underside: AquaFlow units have a visible spacer lug pattern and a drainage channel molded into the base, while the modular units are marked with a small “VL” stamp and a two-digit mold number. The compatibility gotcha most Los Angeles owners run into is thickness: a 60mm paver cannot be swapped into a driveway bed that was graded for 80mm units without re-screeding the sand layer. We match OEM ViewLux units when they’re still in production, and for discontinued colors we source a manufactured equivalent that’s within one shade family under natural California light, not just under showroom lighting.

Signs Your ViewLux Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your ViewLux Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Paver rocking underfoot at the edges. This means the edge restraint has let go or was never installed, and the sand bedding is escaping from the perimeter. Left alone, the pavers migrate outward and the border course separates from the field.
  • Joint sand washing out after every rain. Los Angeles rain is infrequent but intense, and if the polymeric sand installed in the joints was never compacted with a plate vibrator, water pushes it out the low end. You’ll see tiny sand fans on the driveway apron after each storm.
  • Standing water that sits more than 20 minutes after rain. This points to a base that has settled below the original 1% slope, usually from a soft subgrade or a base layer that wasn’t compacted in lifts. Pavers can be lifted, base re-graded, and pavers reset, but the pattern must be marked and re-laid in sequence.
  • Sinking strips where cars park. Vehicle weight concentrates along two wheel lines, and if the base wasn’t compacted to at least 95% Proctor density, those strips sink first. We see this most often in driveways poured over old tree roots or under-compacted fill in neighborhoods like Mid-Wilshire and Eagle Rock.
  • Crumbling pavers or spalling surfaces. This is moisture intrusion into the concrete body, often from de-icing salts or a bad batch. Individual units can be replaced if you kept the mold number and the color hasn’t faded from UV; otherwise we re-run the whole section so the patch doesn’t show.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a full ViewLux-compatible paver driveway replacement runs $8,260-$21,240, with the spread driven by square footage, base depth, and whether we’re reusing your existing pavers or installing new units. A partial repair, replacing ten to forty pavers with edging and joint sand, lands between $1,200 and $4,500 depending on access and the condition of the base beneath. Every quote names the paver, the base material, the labor, and the disposal fee separately, and the written price is what you pay unless you sign a change order for something we uncover after opening the bed. Our workmanship warranty is written on the same page as the scope, not buried in a footer.

You can safely check the edges: walk the perimeter and look for separated paver joints, missing restraint, or sand washing onto the sidewalk. What you should not do is lift and reset more than a handful of pavers yourself, because the base layer underneath is compacted in a specific sequence, and getting that wrong creates a permanent low spot that shows up after the first winter rain. Replacing a driveway correctly means cutting the base, checking the subgrade for compaction, marking the pattern, screeding sand to a calibrated depth, and running a plate compactor over the finished field.
