Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you’re searching for Ameristar kitchen remodeling parts or service in Los Angeles, here’s the direct answer: a full kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, depending on cabinet run, countertop material, and layout changes. We stock Ameristar-compatible hardware and components, and we can usually diagnose and quote the same week you call. Most Los Angeles homeowners discover they need this page when a cabinet hinge strips out, a drawer slide gives way, or a countertop seam opens up after a few years of California dry-heat cycling.

We’re Rowan Construction Group, an independent Los Angeles contractor. We’re not affiliated with Ameristar, but we work with their product lines regularly. The part that fails is rarely the expensive one. It’s the hardware, the mounting, or the seam work. That’s where Los Angeles homes show their age first, especially in older neighborhoods like West Adams, Silver Lake, and the Valley, where original builds go back to the 1950s and 1960s.

Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar kitchen lines vary by era and series, and the compatibility story matters more than most homeowners expect. Older Ameristar cabinetry, particularly from the late 1990s and early 2000s, used 35mm European-style cup hinges with a specific bore pattern. Newer Ameristar lines moved to soft-close hardware with a different mounting plate offset. If you’re swapping a hinge without checking the plate height, the door sits proud or the reveal is uneven. That’s the most common compatibility gotcha we see in Los Angeles remodels.

For drawer slides, Ameristar used side-mount slides on most lines until the mid-2010s, then shifted to undermount on higher-tier kitchen packages. The undermount slides require a specific drawer box notch depth, usually 1/2 inch. Aftermarket slides often fit the side-mount applications fine. The undermount replacements are tighter; we generally recommend OEM-spec parts there because the tolerance stack matters. When in doubt, pull a slide and look for a stamp on the rail. Ameristar stamps the series code on the inner rail, typically a 4-digit number. That number gets us to the right replacement faster than any photo.

Countertops are a different story. Ameristar kitchens often shipped with laminate or cultured-marble tops. When those fail, Los Angeles owners usually upgrade to quartz. Cambria and Silestone are the two brands we quote most often. KraftMaid cabinets are a common pairing when the Ameristar boxes are sound but the doors are done. The decision point is always the same: is the cabinet box square and solid? If yes, refacing and new hardware make sense. If the box has water damage or delamination at the seams, replacement is the cheaper long-term fix.

Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
  • Cabinet doors that won’t stay shut. This usually means the hinge clip is worn or the mounting plate has pulled loose from the cabinet side. In Los Angeles we see accelerated wear from temperature swings, which cause the particleboard to lose screw-holding strength over time.
  • Drawers that stick or drop on one side. The slide bearing is failing, or the slide bracket has shifted. Side-mount slides on Ameristar lines are particularly prone to bearing wear after 15 to 20 years of daily cycling.
  • Countertop seams that open or darken. Seam separation is common with laminate and cultured marble. The fix depends on whether the substrate is still flat. If the cabinet boxes below have settled, replacing just the top won’t hold.
  • Cabinet boxes that feel soft at the base or along the back panel. That’s moisture damage, often from a slow sink drain leak or dishwasher condensation. In Los Angeles, older homes with original plumbing see this more than newer builds.
  • Soft-close mechanisms that stopped being soft. The damper cartridge inside the hinge has blown its seal. This is a straightforward hardware swap on most Ameristar doors, and it’s the most common single-item repair we quote.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we quote in Los Angeles, and these are the numbers in writing before anyone starts:

Scope Installed Price Range
Full kitchen remodel (Ameristar-compatible) $16,520 - $53,100
Small kitchen remodel $10,620 - $23,600
Cabinet installation (new or refaced) $4,720 - $15,340
Countertop installation (quartz, Cambria or Silestone) $2,360 - $7,670
Backsplash installation $945 - $2,950
Kitchen island installation $3,540 - $11,800

The range is driven by cabinet run length, countertop material grade, and whether we’re refacing or fully replacing. A 10-foot galley kitchen with laminate tops sits at the low end. A 20-foot open-plan kitchen with quartz and island work moves toward the high end. Every quote is a flat written price with a written scope. No change proceeds without a signed change order, which is Clause 1 of the Haven Standard and the reason our projects land within a few percent of the agreed number. Workmanship carries a written warranty, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise applies: if it’s not done right, we make it right.

Here’s the honest split. You can safely tighten a hinge mounting screw, adjust a door’s fore-aft setting, or replace a visibly broken pull. You can clean a slide and re-lubricate it with a dry silicone. What you should not do is pull apart soft-close hardware with the door still mounted, try to true a cabinet box with shims, or cut a countertop seam open to re-glue it. Safety matters here, especially with wall-mounted uppers. A loaded upper cabinet with two failed hinges can come off the wall, and that’s a real injury risk. If the cabinet box itself is pulling away from the wall, stop using it and call us at (470) 298-9650.

What we do on every visit is document what we find, photograph it, and hand you the written price before work starts. That’s the standard, not the upgrade. Grant Rowan has been doing structural and kitchen work across Los Angeles County for nearly two decades, and the habit that stuck from his training at LATTC is the same one he runs the company with: measure twice, say it once, show your work.
