"Every job I take on, I treat it like it's my own home."

How Rowan Construction Group Was Born

We started Rowan Construction Group in 2007, the same year the housing market fell apart. That timing wasn’t bad luck. It was the education. Banks stopped lending, homeowners stopped spending, and every contractor who had been coasting on easy money suddenly had to decide what kind of shop they actually ran. Grant Rowan had spent years watching crews price jobs on gut feeling and hope. Hope isn’t a cost basis. When the downturn hit, he saw customers burned twice: first by the market, then by contractors who bid low to win the work and made their margin on change orders nobody agreed to. One job in particular stuck with him. A homeowner had signed for a modest addition, and by the time the crew left, the final invoice was nearly forty percent over the original number. Every overage was technically documented. None of it had been discussed before the concrete went in. That homeowner didn’t lose money because the work was bad. They lost money because the process had no spine. Grant decided then that his company would run on a rule simple enough to print on a work order: no work begins on a change until the change order is signed. We’ve operated that way ever since, from our first years in Los Angeles to every market we serve today.

Grant Rowan’s Personal Connection to the Construction Trade

Grant didn’t grow up planning to build houses. He grew up watching them fall apart, slowly, in ways nobody noticed until the damage was expensive. His first real exposure to construction wasn’t a job site. It was a crawlspace. A family friend’s home had a recurring water problem, and two companies had already charged to fix it without fixing anything. Grant went under the house with a flashlight and a notepad. The smell of wet earth and old framing is still the first thing he thinks about when someone describes a moisture issue. He traced the problem to a grade slope that directed runoff toward the foundation instead of away from it. The fix wasn’t glamorous. It was dirt, gravel, and a few hours of labor. But watching the water find its proper path, away from the house, changed something in him. The problem hadn’t been mysterious. It had just needed someone willing to look at it directly and describe it honestly.

He took that instinct into the trade. Over more than ten years on roofs, in basements, behind walls, and under floors, the lesson never changed. Most construction problems are not complicated. They are unexamined. The homeowners we work with don’t need us to be wizards. They need us to show them the evidence, explain what it means in plain language, and put the price in writing before anyone picks up a tool. That’s what gets Grant out of bed. Not the romance of the build, though there is some. The satisfaction of showing a customer a photo of what we found, a reading from a meter, a reason for the number on the page. If he weren’t doing this, he’d probably be teaching it somewhere. But he’s still too interested in the actual work to leave it.

Meet Grant Rowan - The Person Behind Every Job

Grant Rowan is the Owner & Founder of Rowan Construction Group. He has spent his entire career in the construction trade, starting in the field and working his way into running projects, then into building a company that runs the way he always thought construction should run. His background is hands-on: framing, foundation work, water management, interior and exterior projects across a wide range of residential conditions. He is not a franchise technician parachuted into your area for a season. He built this company, and he is accountable for the standard every Rowan Construction Group location works to. The value that defines him personally is simple: do not ask a customer to pay for something you have not first explained in writing. That is not a marketing line. It’s been the operating rule since 2007, and it hasn’t wavered. Grant lives in Los Angeles and still walks job sites personally when a project needs a second set of eyes. If you work with us, you’re working with a company built around a person who reads the reports and asks the questions.

Our Promise to Homeowners

Every Rowan Construction Group location works to the same five rules, and we print them on the page because we expect you to hold us to them. Have it in writing: flat price, written scope, written warranty, before anyone starts. Arrive on schedule: a real window, a named tech, a text when they’re on the way. Verified crews: licensed, insured, background-checked, with the license number on the page. Evidence on every job: photos and readings of what we actually found, not a verbal summary. No surprises: no door upsell, no scope creep, no “while we’re in here.” We call this the H.A.V.E.N. Standard. It exists because the construction industry has a credibility problem, and the only cure is documentation. If it’s not written down, it didn’t happen. If it’s not priced, it doesn’t start. You will never hear us say “trust me.” You’ll hear us say “here’s the number, and here’s the photo.”

Our Credentials

Our Credentials

We don’t ask you to take our word for anything. Here is what every Rowan Construction Group location is required to hold:

  • State-licensed: every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires for the work they perform. License numbers are published on the local page for the team serving your address.
  • Insured & bonded: coverage is a condition of working under the Rowan Construction Group name, not an optional add-on.
  • Background-checked crews: every technician is screened before they wear our name on a truck or walk onto your property.
  • Years of local experience: our locations are staffed by people who know their region’s soil, weather, codes, and housing stock. That knowledge is not interchangeable, and we don’t pretend it is.
  • Strong local reputation: each location stands on its own record in its own market. We publish our documentation precisely so you can judge us on evidence, not advertising.

Why does this matter to you? Because the person who walks into your home is going to be alone with your family, your possessions, and your largest financial asset. Licensing means someone is accountable. Insurance means you’re protected if something goes wrong. Background checks mean we’ve done our homework before you open the door. And local experience means they’ve seen your kind of house, on your kind of street, in your kind of climate, before they ever meet you.

Rooted in the Communities We Serve

Rowan Construction Group is a network of independently owned and operated locations, each rooted in its own market. Our home base went in in Los Angeles, and from there we grew into markets like Houston, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, San Jose, Austin, Jacksonville, San Francisco, Fort Worth, Fresno, and Sacramento. We don’t pretend to be from anywhere we’re not. The local business is the one with the license, the trucks, and the neighbors. What Rowan Construction Group contributes is the standard they agree to work to, the documentation system that proves it, and the buying power that keeps their prices honest. When you call, a live coordinator answers and connects you with the location that covers your address. That’s how we keep the brand accountable without pretending every market is the same.

What The Haven Standard Means, in Practice

What The Haven Standard Means, in Practice

Since 2007, more than 4,000 projects have been delivered under this name, each with a written price before work began and a documented record when the crew left. That’s the promise, and it’s specific enough to check. Clause 1 is the whole point: the change order is agreed before the work, not after. Not “trust us, it’ll be fine.” Not “we’ll figure it out when we get there.” The number on the page is the number, and if something changes, the new number is on a new page before anyone swings a hammer. Our buying power as a national network helps keep prices fair, but prices stay honest because they’re written down and you’re looking at them.

You’ll notice the name Rowan. It’s a founder’s surname that also happens to be a hardwood. We didn’t pick it for the pun. But it hasn’t hurt.

If you’re thinking about a project, call (470) 298-9650. You’ll reach a live coordinator who will connect you with the local Rowan Construction Group team that covers your address. You’ll get a written estimate, a written scope, and the standard we’ve held since 2007. No one starts until you’ve seen all of it in writing.
