Atlas Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Atlas-compatible kitchen remodeling components across Los Angeles, with a typical full kitchen remodel running $16,520 to $53,100 installed. If you’re dealing with a failed cabinet hinge, a warped drawer box, a blown-out soft-close mechanism, or a countertop seam that’s separated, we can usually match the part to your Atlas model and have the replacement ordered or on the truck within a day or two. The most common call we get is a cabinet door that won’t stay closed or a drawer slide that’s started grinding, and that usually traces back to one specific failure point rather than the cabinet itself.
Most owners discover the problem the way you just did: a door that used to close with a soft click now slams shut, or a drawer that hangs up halfway. Sometimes it’s a hinge that’s bent from someone leaning on an open door. Sometimes it’s a slide that’s lost its ball bearings. The good news is that Atlas hardware is standardized enough that identification is straightforward once you know what to look for.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To
Atlas kitchen remodeling lines sold in the Los Angeles market fall into three general series: the builder-grade Atlas Essential line, the mid-range Atlas Select series, and the Atlas Reserve custom line. The hardware and component differences between these matter, and here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners hit: Atlas Essential cabinets use a 35mm cup hinge with a 9mm overlay, while Atlas Select and Reserve use the same 35mm cup but with a 13mm overlay. Ordering the wrong overlay means your door sits proud of the frame by a quarter inch or rubs against the adjacent door, and no amount of hinge adjustment fixes that.
To identify what you have, pull a hinge off one door and check the stamping on the cup. Atlas stamps the series code on the inside of the hinge arm: “E” for Essential, “S” for Select, “R” for Reserve. If the stamp is worn, measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the cup hole: 3mm is Essential, 5mm is Select and Reserve. On drawer slides, Atlas uses a 3/4″ side-mount slide across all three lines, which makes replacement simpler than the hinge side. For the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision: we carry OEM Atlas hardware because the tolerances on aftermarket hinges in this specific overlay configuration are inconsistent, and a hinge that’s off by half a millimeter shows up as a door that never quite lines up. On drawer slides, a quality aftermarket brand like Blum or Salice works fine and runs 20 to 30 percent less. We stock both.
Signs Your Atlas Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

- Cabinet door won’t stay closed or pops back open. This is almost always a worn spring inside the hinge cup, not a frame issue. Atlas hinges use a coil spring that fatigues after roughly 15,000 to 20,000 open-close cycles, and in a busy Los Angeles kitchen that’s 6 to 8 years of daily use.
- Drawer grinds, catches, or has side-to-side play. The ball bearings in the slide race have worn flat or the nylon rollers have cracked. On Atlas slides, the front roller fails first because it carries more weight when the drawer is extended. Once that roller goes, the metal track starts scoring, and at that point you’re replacing the slide, not lubricating it.
- Soft-close doesn’t engage, or the drawer slams. Atlas uses a hydraulic damper mounted inside the slide on Select and Reserve lines. When the damper’s o-ring degrades, hydraulic fluid leaks out and the damper loses resistance. You’ll see a small oily streak on the slide rail if this is the failure.
- Countertop seam has widened or shifted. On Atlas quartz and solid-surface tops, this usually points to cabinet settlement or a failed seam adhesive, not the countertop material itself. Los Angeles sees enough subtle ground movement and temperature cycling that seams open up over time, and the fix is often re-shimming the cabinet underneath rather than replacing the top.
- Door finish is peeling along the bottom edge. That’s moisture wicking up from a sink splash zone or steam from a dishwasher vent. Atlas’s thermofoil doors on the Essential line are most prone to this. Once the foil separates, the MDF core swells, and the door needs replacing, not refinishing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For full Atlas kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles, installed pricing runs $16,520 to $53,100. That range reflects cabinet count, cabinet line (Essential runs lower, Reserve runs higher), countertop material, and whether we’re doing a pull-and-replace or moving plumbing and electrical. As our kitchen remodeling page breaks down: a small kitchen remodel runs $10,620 to $23,600, cabinet installation alone runs $4,720 to $15,340, countertop installation runs $2,360 to $7,670, and backsplash installation runs $945 to $2,950.
Why the spread? A 10×10 kitchen with 12 cabinets and a laminate top sits at the low end. A 16×14 kitchen with 24 Reserve cabinets, a Cambria quartz island, tile backsplash to the ceiling, and under-cabinet lighting sits at the high end. Every quote we write is a flat price with a written scope and a written warranty before any work starts. No estimate disappears into vague language. You’ll see the line items: cabinet boxes, doors, hardware, countertop fabrication, install labor, haul-away. If the scope changes during the job, nothing proceeds until you sign a change order with the new number on it.
DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do yourself: identify the series stamp on your hinge or slide, count how many cabinets are affected, and measure your cabinet boxes if you’re considering a full replacement. Cabinet hardware replacement is mostly a screwdriver job on the hinge side, and if you have a single hinge failure and the stamping is clear, you can order the part and swap it in fifteen minutes.
Where DIY goes wrong: overlay mismatches we covered above, stripped hinge screws in particleboard (the fix is a threaded insert, not a longer screw), and any countertop or structural cabinet work. Countertop removal and reinstallation involves stone that weighs 18 to 25 pounds per square foot. A 30-square-foot island top is 600 pounds. That’s a job where a dropped corner means a cracked slab and a hospital trip, not a do-over. If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call us at (470) 298-9650. We’ll walk you through identification, and if it’s a quick fix, we’ll tell you that too. The goal is that you know what you’re dealing with before anyone picks up a tool.
FAQs
Atlas cabinets themselves typically last 20 to 30 years in Los Angeles kitchens with normal use, but the hardware, hinges, slides, and soft-close dampers, wears out in 6 to 12 years depending on how heavily the kitchen is used. The cabinet boxes and faces usually outlive the hardware by a wide margin, which is why hardware replacement is often the smarter fix than a full remodel. If your cabinets are structurally sound and you like the layout, let’s talk about hardware replacement before we talk about tearing things out. Call (470) 298-9650 and we’ll give you an honest read on what needs replacing.
A failed hinge or slide needs replacing, but the good news is that Atlas hardware is standardized and the replacement is a bolt-on job, not a repair. We stock OEM Atlas hinges and quality aftermarket slides on the truck, so the swap is usually finished in under an hour per cabinet. The exception is soft-close dampers: if the damper itself is shot on an otherwise good slide, sometimes replacing the damper cartridge works, but on Atlas’s current line the damper is integrated into the slide, so you’re replacing the slide. Call (470) 298-9650 for an exact parts quote, estimates are free.
A full Atlas kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs 4 to 8 weeks from demolition to final walkthrough. Cabinet-only jobs run 2 to 3 weeks. Hardware replacement on existing cabinets is same-day or next-day in most cases. The timeline depends on cabinet line lead times, countertop fabrication, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical. Every timeline we give is written into the scope, and if a delay happens, we tell you in writing. For hardware replacement specifically, call (470) 298-9650 and we’ll confirm what’s on the truck.
We stock OEM Atlas hinges in the most common overlays, drawer slides, soft-close dampers, and catch mechanisms on the truck. For less common Atlas Reserve hardware or custom cabinet doors, we order directly from Atlas distributors and wait times in Los Angeles run 5 to 10 business days. We also stock KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone components for the mixed-brand kitchens we see fairly often. If you can send us a photo of the failed part before we come out, we’ll know exactly what to bring. Call (470) 298-9650 and we’ll sort out the part matching before the first visit.
