KraftMaid Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you own KraftMaid cabinets and something has failed, a hinge, a drawer glide, a door panel, or a finish that won’t stop chipping, we can match your exact line and install the replacement in Los Angeles. A full KraftMaid kitchen remodel in Los Angeles runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on cabinet count, countertop material, and whether we’re opening walls. Most owners find the problem the same way: a drawer that sticks on humid mornings, a soft-close that stopped being soft, or a lower cabinet corner that swelled after one too many Mop & Glo passes. You don’t always need a full remodel. Sometimes it’s twenty minutes and a matched hinge.
Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To
KraftMaid has run several cabinet lines over the years, and hardware is not universal across all of them. The Venicia line, which KraftMaid built from 2005 through roughly 2017, used a frameless construction with different hinge boring than the framed lines like Lexington, Durham, and the current Vantage series. That matters when you’re replacing a European-style hinge: the cup diameter is 35mm on both, but the overlay and mounting plate spacing differ by series. If you bought your Los Angeles home between 2010 and 2019 and the cabinets came with the house, there’s a good chance you’re looking at Venicia or a builder-grade KraftMaid line sold through big-box stores.
The fastest way to identify what you have is the label inside the sink base cabinet door: KraftMaid stamps the series name and date code there, usually on a white or silver sticker. If the sticker is gone, measure the door overlay, the distance from the door edge to the hinge cup center, and we’ll cross-reference it against the 50-plus brands we stock parts for, including Cambria, Silestone, and Kohler for the surfaces and fixtures around the cabinets.
OEM KraftMaid parts are the safest match for color and mounting geometry. Aftermarket equivalents exist for hinges and glides, and some are genuinely good, but the soft-close mechanism spring rates vary. We’ll quote OEM first and offer an aftermarket option only where the fit is confirmed and the savings are real. We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a KraftMaid affiliate, which means we can be blunt about what holds up and what doesn’t.
Signs Your KraftMaid Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

- Soft-close drawers slam or bounce. The damper inside the glide has lost its fluid. On KraftMaid’s older builder lines, this shows up around year six to eight. You can replace the glide without replacing the drawer box, and we keep common KraftMaid glide lengths on the truck.
- Hinges sag and doors won’t align. The hinge spring wears, or the mounting screws have stripped the particleboard behind them. If it’s the screws, a hinge swap alone won’t fix it, you need a threaded insert or a new door bore, which takes a little more care.
- Finish chipping at the door edges. KraftMaid’s thermofoil doors, common in Los Angeles rentals and flipped kitchens, can delaminate when the kitchen runs hot and humid without ventilation. Once the film separates, it won’t re-adhere. Replacement doors can be ordered to match the box, often cheaper than a full cabinet set.
- Water damage at the sink base. Los Angeles kitchens see a lot of galvanized supply lines that weep at the shutoff. The cabinet floor swells, the toe kick softens, and the whole base eventually loses its load path. We replace the cabinet box and rehang the existing doors when they’re still straight.
- Drawer boxes split at the dovetail joints. KraftMaid’s solid-wood drawer boxes are generally good, but the older all-particleboard boxes will crack along the bottom groove after years of heavy pots. A new glide won’t help a broken box, and a new box won’t help a dead glide, so we match both.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For KraftMaid-specific work in Los Angeles, here’s what we charge:
- Single hinge or glide replacement: $45 to $120 in labor, plus the part. If the part is on our truck, you’re done in one visit.
- Full door or drawer-front replacement, matched to your series: $180 to $600 per door, including custom color match and hardware transfer, depending on whether we order OEM doors or have them built locally.
- Sink base cabinet box replacement: $450 to $1,200 including removal, disposal, new box, rehang of existing doors, and resealing the plumbing penetrations.
- Full cabinet installation within a remodel: $4,720 to $15,340, which covers demoliton, layout, leveling, scribing to the walls, and hardware adjustment.
- Complete KraftMaid kitchen remodel: $16,520 to $53,100 in Los Angeles, including cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and the trades to pull it together.
The range on that last one is real, and it’s driven by three things: how many linear feet of cabinet you’re running, whether counters are laminate or Cambria quartz, and whether we’re relocating plumbing or electrical. Every quote is written before work starts, with the scope defined in writing, and no change happens without a signed change order. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, the price is the price. We’ve held that discipline since 2007 across 4,000-plus jobs, and it’s why our finished costs land within a few percent of the agreed number.
DIY or Call Us?

Some of this is genuinely safe to check yourself. If a drawer is sticking, pull it out and look at the glide: a bent track is obvious, and a grease-caked roller can be wiped clean. If a door won’t close level, look at the hinge screws, if they’re loose, snug them. That’s about where the homeowner version should stop.
Replacing a soft-close hinge means setting the overlay correctly, or the door binds at the corner and chips the finish. Replacing a damaged sink base means pulling the plumbing, supporting the countertop, and shimming the new box so the counter doesn’t crack. And if you have a water-damaged cabinet under a natural stone top, the risk isn’t the cabinet, it’s the counter letting go when the box comes out. We do that with temporary supports and a careful order of operations. FAQs
With normal use, KraftMaid’s framed lines last 20 to 30 years in Los Angeles; the hinges and glides wear out around year eight, and thermofoil doors in hot kitchens may delaminate earlier. The boxes hold up; the moving parts and door skins are what go first. Call (470) 298-9650 and we’ll tell you whether yours are worth saving.
A chipped wood edge can be filled and refinished; a delaminated thermofoil door cannot, the film has to be stripped and replaced. We’ll match either option to your series and give you the price in writing before work starts.
Most hinge and glide swaps are 30 to 60 minutes on site. If we’re matching a discontinued part and have to order it, you’ll wait two to three weeks, and we’ll pre-drill and adjust everything once it arrives. For an exact timeline on your model, call (470) 298-9650 for a free estimate.
We keep common KraftMaid hinge overlays, soft-close glides, and mounting plates stocked for Los Angeles service calls. If your series needs an OEM door or an oddball drawer box, we order it and schedule the install when it’s in hand. Call (470) 298-9650 and we’ll check the truck before you book.
If you’re holding a loose hinge and wondering whether the whole kitchen needs redoing, bring us the door or the part number and we’ll tell you straight. Measure twice, say it once, show your work. That’s how Grant Rowan has run every job since 2007, and it’s how we’ll handle yours.
