ViewLux Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
ViewLux fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete install, and if you already have the panels sitting in your yard, we match the existing hardware and reset or rebuild the sections the same week. Most Los Angeles homeowners find us after wind season: a Santa Ana gust pushed a section over, or the gate sagged enough that the latch no longer lines up. You might hear the panels rattle in the frame before you see the crack.
We’re an independent Los Angeles fence contractor, not affiliated with ViewLux, which means we tell you the truth about the hardware rather than the catalog pitch. Grant Rowan has walked enough ViewLux lines in Silver Lake, Echo Park, and the Valley to know exactly which series fasteners fail first and which replacement hardware actually holds.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To
ViewLux fence lines split into two families: the extruded aluminum privacy series and the lighter duty decorative panels used around pool equipment enclosures and side yards. The aluminum privacy panels come in 4-foot and 6-foot heights, and the post system is a 2.5-inch square profile with a snap-in cover plate. The decorative line uses a 2-inch post and thinner pickets.
Open your side gate and look at the post cap. If the cap unscrews and the post is hollow with an interior channel, you have the privacy series. If the panel is welded directly to the post with no visible screw, that’s the decorative line and it was never built for structural spans longer than six feet. A common Los Angeles problem: a homeowner buys the decorative line for a privacy wall, the installer stretches the span to eight feet, and the top rail bows within two years. If your rail is bowed, the panel was under-specced for the job, and replacing it with the same model repeats the failure. We match the heavier privacy series panel in the same finish where the fence line calls for it.
For replacement hardware, OEM ViewLux brackets and post caps work, but the aftermarket equivalents from PostMaster and Fortress are equal or better in salt air, which matters if you’re within five miles of the coast. The aftermarket post caps cost less and the powder coat holds in marine layer humidity.
Signs Your ViewLux Fence Installation Is Failing

- Panels rattle when the wind kicks up. The snap-in post covers have released from the channel. It’s not cosmetic; once water tracks into the post interior, the steel inside starts corroding and the post loses its connection to the bracket.
- Gate drags or won’t latch. The hinge screws have stripped from the post face. ViewLux aluminum posts are thin-wall, and once a screw strips, the fix is a through-bolt with a backing plate, not a longer screw.
- Top rail starts to bow between posts. The panel was either under-specced for the span or the installer skipped the mid-rail stiffener. A bowed rail is a structural sign the panel will crack at the weld.
- White chalky residue on the post faces. That’s the powder coat oxidizing. Los Angeles sun with the smog layer accelerates this faster than inland. If you catch it before the metal pits, a recoat works; after pitting, you replace the post.
- Fence leans at the corner post. The corner post was set in a shallow pour or without a gravel drain, and the post is leaning in saturated soil after the rainy season. In Los Angeles’s clay-heavy soil, corner posts need a deeper set than straight runs.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Los Angeles, a full ViewLux fence installation runs $4,130 to $10,620 depending on the linear feet, the series, and how much of the existing post system can be saved. A repair-only job, like resetting two posts and replacing one panel, usually falls between $650 and $1,900. A single panel replacement with no post work starts around $300 to $700 depending on the finish.
What moves the number: access (a hillside in Mount Washington costs more than a flat lot in Mid-City), the condition of the existing post footings, and whether we’re matching the older ViewLux finish or coating everything new. The quote includes the removal and disposal of the failed section, the new panels and fasteners, post setting where needed, and a written line-item price before anyone starts, not an estimate after. Under The Haven Standard, Clause 1, the price is written before any work begins, and if the scope changes mid-job, you sign a change order with the new number before anyone picks up a tool. Our workmanship on the installation is covered for 365 days under the Done Right Promise.
DIY or Call Us?

You can safely measure the panel height and post spacing, check the post caps, and take a photo of the label on the inside of the post if one’s still legible. What you should not do is dig out a leaning post and try to reset it without the correct concrete and drainage setup, or attempt to straighten a bowed rail with a heat gun. The finish cures to a specific spec, and misapplied heat embrittles the aluminum. If a corner post has failed, there’s a decent chance the concrete pour underneath it is the actual problem, and digging without knowing what the original footing looks like is how you turn a $700 repair into a $4,000 replacement.
If the section is beyond a clean fix, call us at (470) 298-9650 or send photos and measurements, and we’ll give you a written price for the exact ViewLux series match before you commit to any work.
FAQs
Plan on 15 to 25 years for the privacy series panels and posts, with the finish fading sooner if the fence faces west or southwest with no shade. The decorative line typically lasts 8 to 12 years before the thin pickets and welds show fatigue. Coastal salt air shortens the post life by several years. Call (470) 298-9650 for an exact assessment of your fence’s condition, and estimates are free.
It depends on where the failure is. A snapped picket or a bad weld can sometimes be re-welded and refinished, but a bowed top rail should be replaced, not repaired, because the metal has been stressed past its spring point. We tell you repair versus replace in plain terms before we quote anything.
If the existing posts are sound and we’re replacing panels and hardware only, most Los Angeles jobs wrap up in a single day. New post setting adds a day for digging, concrete, and the curing time before we hang the panels, plus a few hours to match the finish on any exposed fasteners. You get a document photo record of what was found and what was done, included with the visit.
We keep the common ViewLux replacement parts on the truck: post caps, snap-in covers, hinge sets, and the through-bolt backer plates that stop the post stripping problem. For full panel replacements, we order the specific series and finish from our suppliers, which is part of the lead time in the written quote. Everyone gets a real answer on availability, not a promise, before the job is scheduled.
