Wellborn Home Additions & ADU: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We install and service Wellborn-compatible cabinetry, trim, and hardware across home additions and ADU projects in Los Angeles, with complete addition projects typically running $53,100-$153,400 depending on square footage, foundation work, and finish level. Most owners discover a Wellborn-specific problem during a remodel walk-through: a hinge that’s stripped out of a face frame, a drawer glide that catches on the soft-close mechanism, or trim that’s warped from Southern California’s dry-heat cycles. We keep Wellborn replacement hardware and matching trim profiles on our trucks because when a cabinet fails mid-project, the schedule doesn’t pause for a parts order.
Rowan Construction Group is an independent contractor and is not affiliated with Wellborn. What we bring is 18 years of Los Angeles County remodels and a written price before any work starts, so the cabinet repair or replacement number is never a surprise.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To
Wellborn builds cabinets across three broad tiers: the Estate series (full-overlay, soft-close, plywood boxes), the Premier series (semi-custom, multiple door profiles), and Cabinetry Classics (entry-level, standard overlay). The compatibility gotcha most Los Angeles owners hit is hinge drilling distance: Wellborn full-overlay doors use a 35mm cup hinge with a 3mm to 6mm reveal, while standard overlay doors from the Classics line use a different plate height. If you swap a door without matching the hinge plate, the door hangs visibly crooked. The hinge model number is stamped on the cup arm, and the cabinet box has a production label inside the sink base or the top drawer of the pantry cabinet.
For drawer glides, Wellborn has used side-mount glides (older Classics), undermount soft-close glides (Estate and most Premier from 2015 forward), and Blum Tandem-series hardware as their premium option. The undermount glides have the manufacturer name and slide length printed right on the rail. If yours says “Blum” and is 21 inches long, that tells us what to quote before we arrive.
Our position on parts is plain: if we can get the genuine Wellborn hardware or matching trim, we quote it first. If Wellborn has discontinued the part, which happens more on Classics doors from before 2012, we source a quality aftermarket equivalent with the same drilling pattern and face profile and say so in writing on the estimate.
Signs Your Wellborn Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

- Door won’t close flush or hangs crooked. The hinge plate has loosened from the face frame, or the cup hinge has worn at the pivot point. In Los Angeles’s dry summers, wood face frames shrink enough to let screws back out over two or three seasons.
- Drawer catches, scrapes, or slams instead of closing soft. The plastic clip at the back of an undermount glide has cracked, or the soft-close piston has lost hydraulic pressure. This is the highest-failure Wellborn part we replace, and it’s almost always one side that goes first.
- Trim or crown molding separating from the cabinet face. Seasonal humidity swings in Los Angeles, especially in uninsulated ADUs, cause maple and birch trim to expand and contract. The pin nails holding the trim stay put, but the wood moves around them.
- Finish wearing through on cabinet faces that get daily use. The trash pull-out and sink base doors fail first because that’s where hands, steam, and cleaning spray land. Wellborn’s conversion varnish is durable, but 10 to 12 years of daily opening is what it takes to wear through the edges.
- Soft-close mechanism no longer catches. The small plastic catch inside the hinge cup or the glide’s dampener has sheared off. Either way, the door now closes with a bang, and replacement hardware is the fix, not an adjustment.
Before
AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Wellborn cabinet hardware replacement in Los Angeles, individual hinge replacement runs roughly $40-$85 per hinge installed, drawer glide replacement runs $65-$140 per drawer, and trim or crown molding repair runs $15-$28 per linear foot. A full cabinet door replacement, which we recommend when the door has warped beyond adjustment or the finish is worn through, runs $180-$400 per door depending on the series and finish match.
Where the bigger number comes in is when a Wellborn cabinet problem is part of a larger home addition or ADU scope. A full addition runs $53,100-$153,400, and an ADU runs $106,200-$259,600, which includes foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and the cabinet package. The range is driven by whether you’re adding to an existing foundation, what the soil report requires for footings, and whether your finish package uses Estate-series Wellborn cabinets or a more economical option.
Every quote we write is a flat price with a written scope and written warranty. No change proceeds without a signed change order, which is Clause 1 of The Haven Standard, and it’s the reason our projects finish within a few percent of the number you agreed to. We also include a documented photo record of the work, the parts we replaced, and the condition of the adjacent cabinetry before we walk out.
DIY or Call Us?

Cabinet hardware replacement isn’t high-tension dangerous the way a garage spring or a gas line is, but it goes wrong in slower ways: a stripped hinge screw in a face frame that now needs filling and re-drilling, a drawer that binds because the glide was mounted one millimeter lower on one side, or a finish chip from prying off old trim without heat. If you’re comfortable with a level, a driver, and a clamp, you can replace a single Wellborn hinge plate. What we’d tell any Los Angeles homeowner is this: check the label, take a photo of the hinge cup and the glide rail, and call us with the numbers. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a forty-dollar hinge or a drawer box worth the shop time.

FAQs
Wellborn Estate and Premier series cabinets built after 2015 with plywood boxes and undermount glides should last 20 to 30 years of daily use in Los Angeles, with hinge and glide replacement happening once or twice in that span.
Classics-series cabinets with particleboard boxes in uninsulated garages or ADUs will show edge swelling in 8 to 12 years, because that’s moisture exposure and board quality, not workmanship.
Call (470) 298-9650 if you want us to inspect your specific cabinet run and give you a written condition report.
If the glide is intact but the drawer is off its track or the clip has snapped, we can replace the clip or re-seat the glide in about 30 minutes; if the soft-close piston has leaked or the rail is bent, the whole glide gets replaced because there’s no serviceable piston inside.
Either way, the fix is precise, not expensive, and the written quote will say exactly which part goes in before any work starts.
A single door hinge or drawer glide swap takes 60 to 90 minutes including adjustment and testing, and we do it in one visit because the common Wellborn hardware is on the truck.
Matching a discontinued Classics door or replacing a full cabinet run inside a kitchen remodel is measured in days, not hours, and the schedule is in the written scope before you sign anything.
We carry the common Wellborn hinge plates, cup hinges, soft-close catches, undermount glides, and crown molding profiles for Estate and Premier series on the truck, so most single-cabinet repairs finish same-visit.
Special-order items like a specific door profile in a discontinued finish get quoted with the lead time in writing, and we don’t start the job until the part is in hand.
We also service cabinetry from KraftMaid and countertops from Cambria and Silestone, so if your Los Angeles home mixes brands across rooms, one crew can handle the matched parts and the installation. Call (470) 298-9650 for a free estimate, or bring a competitor’s written quote and we’ll review it line by line at no charge.
